About Cheri
Cheri Brackett is a short story author, painter, award-winning non-fiction essayist, and first-time novelist. She ghostwrote her first published non-fiction book when she was twenty-five. Since then she's written many essays, most notably, "Other Child, Other Mother" published in the Anthology Gravity Pulls You In (Woodbine, 2010), which received the Mom's Choice Award and was a Finalist in the Anthologies/Non-Fiction category of the 2010 International Book Awards, sponsored by USA Book News.
Cheri's short story, "Falling Leaves," was published by Empty Sink Publishing and was nominated for the 2017 Pushcart Prize. “Falling Leaves" is an excerpt from her debut novel, OF A KINDRED.
As a painter, Cheri’s expressionistic work is most inspired by the feminine figure. It has been described as “provocative and personal,” focusing on emotion, relationship and movement. Her work has graced the cover of The Laurel of Asheville and has been exhibited in New York, Atlanta and Asheville as well as juried exhibitions throughout the southeast.
She was commissioned by Disney to commemorate the documentary, “Women, War, and Peace.”
